I am looking to build a bright gaming system and I am wondering what wattage power supply I will need. Currently, I am looking at these products:
4GB PC6400 DDR2 Dual-Channel RAM
2x XFX GeForce 8600 GTS XXX 256MB Video Cards (SLI'd together)
Plextor PX-800A/SW-BL SuperMulti Drive (IDE)
500GB SATA Hard drive (7200 RPM)
74GB SATA Hard drive (10,000 RPM)
Asus M2N32 WS Pro Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3GHz (Specs influence this processor consumes 125 watts)
I am looking at a 600-watt supply. Would that be sufficient satisfactory to run these components without much of a problem?
Sufficient Power?
a 600-750w should do to run all of that. However, unless you a moment ago have to own it, I wouldn't go next to SLI 8600s. Rather 1 8800 gts or gtx. The 8800s are fast ample now that you won't really stipulation 2. You can always attain another later when dx10 games become available (also when the cards are cheaper) but for immediately, spend the money on 1 really good card and not 2 fully clad cards
You should look for 700w-850w power supply instead of 600w,since ur video card consumes a lot power, and also look for the PSU beside 75%-80% efficiency. In accumulation ,u might look for cooling components as well coz near such high watt, your laptop will getting hotter !
