What is matched PC memory?

Corsair XMS2 Xtreme Performance TwinX Matched seem nicely priced some place at lb80 for the 2gig duet. My question, is what does adjectives this twin/matched thing be going to? Do they have to be used together surrounded by the same appliance and does it mean you can mix them next to other memory types?

When memory makers clash pairs it means that the chips on the RAM stick come from duplicate bin and are of the same type.



For instance, you might buy for example, a stick of Acme 1000 run into (made up name) today and then several months after that, you might buy another stick of Acme 1000, however, the first one may use chips made by Samsung and the other one might have chips made by Toshiba. Even though they both are 1GB PC3200 DDR modules, they're somewhat different because the chips on their pcb is different.



Does this concern? Unless you're overclocking, it doesn't really matter much.
Some computers require that the two bank of memory be the same size, e.g. 512 mb. Other than that the two should be duplicate designed speed, like 1 mgrz for example. If you enjoy two sticks of memory, they should, but dont have to be impossible to tell apart specs. If you have two sticks of unequal SIZE, put the big one contained by bank 0.
With RAM you grasp better performance if you use equal brand/type. If you mix different types, ie PC2700 with PC3200 it will with the sole purpose run at the slowest speed of the two.
