i am suspicious that maybe it is malware or some other form of malicious coding that somehow disabled or disengaged the hardware, but i really hold no idea. serve! i have an elder computer and this is my only USB port, so i rely on it for my printer and digi cam.
Suddenly, my one working USB port and my speakers will not work at indistinguishable time. Advice please?
It may be an IRQ conflict.
IRQ numbering roughly tells the processor surrounded by what order to do things. Each device is assigned a different IRQ, so as not to hold two devices performing at the exact same time.
However, if two devices had impossible to tell apart IRQ number, only one would work, which is usually the device wired onto the motherboard first.
I'm not exactly sure if you can money this, but to check, you can go to the Device Manager (right click on My Computer - Manage - Device Manager. Then, right click on your USB or nouns device - properties - resources. If they have different IRQ numbers, adaptation one (preferably your speakers). If they are different, you could try to delete the drivers for both then reinstall them.
Other than that, buy a clean computer if you only hold one working USB port.
