Using 1 SATA HD and 1 IDE drive?

I own a motherboard that can handle SATA and IDE drives..All I want to do is install my boot drive to the SATA drive and use the IDE for extra drives..I don't want to seize into RAID array...thanks ...my motherboard is ASUS P5ND2

Using 1 SATA HD and 1 IDE drive?

Simply set the boot drive to the SATA drive within bios.
install the SAta drive ONLY to start, and then boot the Windows compact disc to start the install, however use another PC first to make the diskette (floppy) near the drivers for the Sata card (info will be on the Mobo CD) and when the installed asks for SCSI drivers, use the floppy to load them, otherwise the XP installer will not see the SATA drive.

Once you enjoy windows installed, uninstall the compact disc ROM/DVD and add the HDD to IDE trough (primary channel, set as master) and make a payment the CD/DVD to Secondary channel if here is one, or on same cable as HDD as a slave if not. This will consent to windows non-attendance the HDD to D and the DVD to E.

Biggest thing is to produce sure you have the drivers for the Sata cntroller on a floppy prepared to go.
