What are 3-d computing processors anyhow and what are they suposed to do?

3d cpu's are a concept IBM newly released on how to rethink the architecture of an cpu. Instead of the traditional flat out across a silicon method where transistors a short time ago keep tinier and pushed closer together for more speed, IBM have come up with a method of stacking semiconductors higher than each other. This will build for much faster computer chips and less use of electricity for computer chips.
